Part 2
At this point, we will ask for a group of volunteers from the church to carry out several Key Person Interviews (ideally from as broad a sample of people from the community as possible). The findings from these interviews should be returned by an agreed date. This could be done by taking time to visit the central gathering points or places of importance in the community so it would be helpful to have thought in advance about where these are in your parish. This interview is also designed to glean information about how people in the wider community perceive the church. [see Template 3]
Part 3
The MAP team will meet to identify key agencies in the parish where collaboration and the possibility of growing mission to the wider community might be possible. [see Template 4]
Part 4
We will carry out a service audit by inviting church members and outsiders who have attended church in the last 6 months to fill in a review questionnaire. [see Template 5]
Part 5
We will carry out a skills and questionnaire audit at this stage by asking all church members and anyone who has offered help to fill out a questionnaire. [see Template 6 or click here for a version of the Survey which can be filled out and submitted online]
Part 6
At this stage, we will organise a SWOT Session or Church Health Check (several hours needed for this so a session in church or off-site would be useful) with the PCC (open to non-PCC members) [using Template 7] (taken from Seven Signs of a Healthy Church by Robert Warren). The evidence gained from doing the health-check will then be sorted according to how far we are meeting the diocese’s mission goals. This will give you a clearer picture of where our church is strong and where it might need to strengthen its mission.
Someone will then be appointed to collate all the information from each of the exercises (Templates 1-7) and to draw out from that an outline of possible priority areas. These should be as exhaustive as possible at this stage.
