These activities have always been open to everyone and regarded as a way to bring the members together in a less formal atmosphere to create and sustain the strong bonds of friendship, so vital to church health.  Activities which have taken place over the past twenty years are many and varied and include.  They include jumble sales, quiz nights, sponsored walks, trips throughout the year with special emphasis given to the Christmas trip, heritage weekends, barge trips, Halloween dances, Epiphany dinners, New Year dinner dances, bonfire parties at the rectory, coffee mornings, garden parties, St George’s Day Social Evenings and Hot Pot Suppers, PCC Away Days, parish  away days Register weekends, Table Top Sales, Afternoon Teas, VE/VJ celebrations, Christmas Party nights in the church centre, trips to the pantomime, Saturday luncheons, Valentine and Mother’s Day markets, Bring and Buys, Easter Craft Fairs, Easter Egg Tombola, May Day weekend celebrations, Summer Fairs and  Potato Pie supper, Church Yard Gardening days,  
 
Given St Cross's commitment to the social life of its members, the PCC always plans a full year’s programme of church social events which it hopes will also appeal to the unchurched .
