On Sunday 7th May 2017 we launched the St Cross Foodbank and what began as a small venture with less than 10-15 families coming each week has quickly grown with us now helping feed more than 30 households in need every week. We have worked hard over this time to make connections and forge partnerships with organisations throughout the area to supply much of the food we need on a weekly basis, but we still rely on our community members' generous donations of food and money, as well as local organisiations (particularly the three primary schools in our parish- St. Willibrord's, Seymour Road and Ravensbury- who run collections at various points during the school year) to be able to do this and we have a collection bin in the foyer at St. Cross as well as Foodbank Collection Points at ASDA Eastlands, Co-Op Funeral Care and St. Willibrord's School for donations of non-perishable foodstuffs which we need stocks of all year round.
If you represent a local business or organisation who would be interested in becoming a collection point for us, please click here to find out more. [Link to be added asap, please check back or contact Fr. Chris directly in the meantime.] |
At present we are looking for non-perishable foodstuffs such as:
