Foodbank Provision at St. Cross

Picture
On Sunday 7th May 2017 we launched the St Cross Foodbank and what began as a small venture with less than 10-15 families coming each week has quickly grown with us now helping feed more than 30 households in need every week. We have worked hard over this time to make connections and forge partnerships with organisations throughout the area to supply much of the food we need on a weekly basis, but we still rely on our community members' generous donations of food and money, as well as local organisiations (particularly the three primary schools in our parish- St. Willibrord's, Seymour Road and Ravensbury- who run collections at various points during the school year) to be able to do this and we have a collection bin in the foyer at St. Cross as well as Foodbank Collection Points at ASDA Eastlands, Co-Op Funeral Care and St. Willibrord's School for donations of non-perishable foodstuffs which we need stocks of all year round.

If you represent a local business or organisation who would be interested in becoming a collection point for us, please click here to find out more. [Link to be added asap, please check back or contact Fr. Chris directly in the meantime.]

Thank you to our partner agencies:

ASDA Eastlands for hosting our Collection Box for donations
FareShare Greater Manchester - fresh fruit and veg, dairy produce and more

and, through the FareShare FoodCloud programme:
Gregg's, Lime Square - Cakes and baked goods
Tesco, Gorton - Bread and baked goods

as well as all the organisations acting as collection points for us!
If you are able to donate to help local families in need we would be very grateful:

You can place donations in our collection trolley at Asda, any of our collection points around Clayton (see above) or bring them to church after services or during Foodbank hours on Saturdays (10:30am-12noon).

If you would like to help but are unable to get to the shops or to church to donate food then you can donate online via our Just Giving page and we will use the money to purchase weekly essentials for our Foodbank Families to supplement other donations.

Thank you!
