Hello again everyone!
Today is a special day in the history of St. Cross as we celebrate the 150th Anniversary of our church's opening on April 17th, 1866 (more properly known as a Sesquicentennial Anniversary) and we thought a blog post was appropriate to go along with the Service held in church this afternoon!! St. Cross has been at the centre of local life since its opening 150 years ago and we hope to remain so for many years to come. You can take a look at Brief History of St. Cross if you'd like to read a little more about the church and its beginnings... we're hoping to add more interesting snippets from our history to the website soon. We are also hoping to create a page on the website sharing peoples' memories of and connections to St. Cross so look out for news on how you can contribute to that at some point in the future! :) There will be events happening at St. Cross throughout the next twelve months to celebrate this important year (which you can find listed on our 150th Year Celebrations Page) and we hope lots of the many people in our local community and beyond who have connections to St. Cross past or present will come along and help us to make this a year to remember!! The next event is a Concert Afternoon with Renaissance and St. Wilfrid's Music Makers on Saturday 21st May, followed by a Strawberry Cream Tea in the Church Centre (Tickets £5). Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our church community through the years! We hope to see many of you soon! Best Wishes, The St. Cross Web Team
